EP. 363: Public Land Booner From The Ground | Season of Redemption

Today We’re talking about my recent hunt in Kansas. Three seasons ago I set a goal to kill a Kansas whitetail from the ground. I had a lot of opportunities that I screwed up the previous seasons. Each set up got a little better last year and I really felt this was the year to meet my goal. I wasn’t looking for a giant…when I hunt out of state, my mission is to try and take a buck that is the average/representative animal for the area I’m hunting. It would’ve been really easy to screw this hunt up. A lot of things when the deer were approaching were not breaking my way. I had to make a lot of small and quick decisions on how to play the situation. I think a lot of things I do outside of hunting that helps me be more present in my day to day life, and mentally in control of my emotions/actions was actually what allowed the arrow to get released…and be fatal. When it came to those critical seconds that stood between a grip and grin and just another story of a great encounter…I was in control this time. I remembered every detail…no auto-pilot…no blacking out and not remembering the shot. Fully present. I hope you all dig the session, and as always thank you all for listening.

EP. 329: Delayed Is Not Denied | Travis Keith

Today I’m joined by my buddy…the man with two first names, Travis Keith. It’s been two seasons since Travis has been on the show. His 2021 season had some unexpected twists and turns while 2022 tested his resolve. What I most appreciate about Travis (beyond the fact that he is a killer in the whitetail woods) is he leads with his faith, always. Does the right thing which ins’t always the easy thing. And at the end of the day, he still usually ends up with a filled tag or two. But most importantly he leaves each hunting season with a story, a lesson learned, and even with adversity…even deeper in his faith. Always and excellent and soul enriching conversation with Travis. Hope you all dig the conversation as much as I did – thanks for listening!

EP. 327: Use A North Wind To Cover Your Movement | Ground Hunting

Today I’m joined by Travis Glassman. If you’ve been following this podcast you know that I’ve have a soft spot for ground hunting and the advantages you gain by being on the ground, especially in the plaines of Kansas. Travis is a Kansas native who is consistently filling his tag on mature whitetails from the ground using a combination of spot and stalk, ambush set ups, and maybe his favorite…decoying a ticked off dominant buck to 5 yards! If that’s not enough he’s usually capturing all of this on camera. I’m already pumped up to get back to the wide open plaines to do some crawling and brawling. Hope you dig the conversation as much as I did – thanks for listening!

EP. 311: Two Tags Filled And Three Arrows

Today I’m joined by my good buddy Aaron Hepler. Aaron is one of the most dedicated outdoorsman I know. Regardless of season, Aaron is almost always in the woods scouting, hiking, hunting, looking for his next experience. This year he had a goal of filling two specific tags. One being his first ever bull Elk tag. The other his PA buck tag on public lands…which is a challenge…and something he manages to do with consistency. If he were going to fill these two tags he’d have to dust himself off after a heartbreaker of one that got away.
