EP.449: Unplug, Hunt Harder | Cody D’Acquisto

In this episode of the Truth From The Stand podcast, I’m joined by my buddy Cody D’Acquisto for a conversation that digs deep into more than just treestand setups and big bucks on the wall. Cody’s fresh off the road and gearing up for his upcoming road show, and we break down what it means to really unplug from the noise and lean into the lessons the woods — and the mats — have to offer. We get into how elimination and identification shape our hunting decisions, why mastering the fundamentals matters whether you’re tightening a choke in jiu jitsu or slipping an arrow through a buck’s ribs, and how the right mindset can make or break your hunt before you ever lace up your boots.

Cody shares what he’s seeing out there, where he’s headed next, and why the pressure we carry these days sometimes needs to be left at the truck. It’s an honest look at discipline, flow state, and why the best lessons still come from just showing up, putting in the work, and staying present enough to enjoy the whole damn ride.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM PODCAST 449

  • Unplugging from tech is tougher — and more rewarding — than folks think.
  • Road shows give Cody fresh lessons and real connections with hunters everywhere.
  • Cutting dead spots and doubling down on good ground makes all the difference.
  • Mastery, whether on the mats or in the stand, comes down to intent and time under tension.
  • Staying present and trusting flow beats overthinking every time.
  • Hunting is unpredictable — persistence and grit usually beat raw talent.
  • Cody’s fired up for the next hunt, the next roll, and the next chance to learn.

EP. 403: Power of Presence & Visualization | Cody D’Acquisto

Hey gang – In this episode, I sit down with Cody to talk about staying sharp, all while gearing up for the upcoming hunting season. We dive into our favorite equipment—from bows and arrows to broad heads—and Cody shares his excitement about his new micro longbow and its compact benefits. We both stress the importance of finding gear that fits well and builds confidence out in the field.

But it’s not just about the gear. Cody and I explore what it means to truly be present during a hunt, discussing how technology can sometimes pull us away from the experience. We emphasize the value of stripping away distractions to connect deeply with nature and enjoy the challenge of the hunt. We also touch on the pressures of the hunting industry and remind ourselves to focus on the essence of hunting itself. From understanding deer behavior and honing our strategies to the importance of visualization and thinking outside the box, this conversation is packed with insights.

EP. 326: A New Chapter & Doing Hard Shit | Cody D’Acquisto

Today I’m joined by my buddy Cody D’Acuisto – it’s been a while since we’ve had a chance to catch up. Cody has made a habit of proving people wrong. He’s one of the best deer hunters you’ll find with inches to prove it. His strategies sometimes seem unorthodox initially…until he hangs Boone and Crocket deer on his wall…then everyone is all ears. He’s a trail blazer and what set’s him apart from other hunters is his mindset. Yes he’s a great strategist when it comes to locking and killing giant bucks. But he usually has to come up with something unconventional and outside the box to release that fatal arrow. And doing what hasn’t been proven before is where his mindset puts him over the top. Killer session with Cody and hope you all dig the conversation as much as I did – thanks for listening!
