EP. 315: Out of State Public Land Hammer | Finding Any Deer Is Key

Today I’m joined by my good buddy Michael Varady. Michael is known for killing hammer deer In NJ (particularly the past few years with a traditional bow) but this year he took his talents out of state for the first time. With less than Ideal temperatures in early Nov., he used some tried and true methods that have worked well for him in the past. Sometimes, just simply starting with finding any deer is the key to unlocking success. Hope you all dig the conversation as much as I did – Thanks for listening!

EP. 311: Two Tags Filled And Three Arrows

Today I’m joined by my good buddy Aaron Hepler. Aaron is one of the most dedicated outdoorsman I know. Regardless of season, Aaron is almost always in the woods scouting, hiking, hunting, looking for his next experience. This year he had a goal of filling two specific tags. One being his first ever bull Elk tag. The other his PA buck tag on public lands…which is a challenge…and something he manages to do with consistency. If he were going to fill these two tags he’d have to dust himself off after a heartbreaker of one that got away.

EP. 310: How to Find a Buck With The Season Winding Down | Jake Bush

Today I’m joined by my good buddy Jake Bush. Jake is known for his efficiency in killing giants in the early part of October. This year has thrown him a curveball with the areas he hunts being hit hard by EHD. He’s found most of his top target bucks dead…or has found out from others that they were found dead. He’s logged 750 miles this year boots on the ground trying to locate a target. You’ll find few people more dedicated than Jake…and I’d put money on him filling a tag before seasons end. So what’s an October bed hunter to do when the calendar has turned to November and beyond…that’s what we’re talking about today!

EP. 308: Patterning Scrape Dates For Big Bucks

Today on the podcast I’m joined by my good Buddy Jake Hofer. Jake is one of the guys who I’ve learned a lot from when it comes to using longer-term trail camera data to plan hunts. More specifically how I approach patterning scrapes is directly influenced by Jake’s approach (and love) for scrapes. Intimately learning when and how different scrapes are being used has helped me target specific dates related to a specific scape area. The past few years, I’ve picked a specific date I’ve seen active and not surprising, I had encounters with shooter bucks in both instances. Kinda crazy to pick one date in the entire whitetail calendar…and consistently have it produce. Hope you dig the conversation – thanks for listening!
